STEVE OGUTU

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Stephine (Steve) Ogutu brings over a decade of expertise in the development sector, specializing in strategic communication, research, program design, partnerships, and public policy. He has spearheaded communications and policy advocacy initiatives for major development programs funded by USAID, PEPFAR, USDA, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Hilton Foundation, and the Hewlett Foundation across Sub-Saharan Africa. Steve has held leadership roles with organizations such as the Movement for Community-led Development, Global Communities, and the African Development Bank Group.
 

His extensive work spans diverse sectors, including Agribusiness, Climate Change, Energy, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Women’s Economic Empowerment, Cooperative Development, Governance, Health, and Peacebuilding.
 

Steve has also developed and delivered capacity-building curricula on topics such as gender mainstreaming, civil society empowerment, impact evaluation, devolution, governance, fundraising, and localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for government agencies and development partners in Kenya, Ghana, Somalia, and Ethiopia. He also serves as Co-Lead at the School for Devolution and Community-led Development in Kenya.
 

An expert in media engagement, Steve has been featured in interviews with BBC TV, Voice of America (VOA), Radio France Internationale, and leading media outlets across Africa, sharing insights on SDG-related issues. He holds a Master of Arts in Development Communication from the University of Nairobi.
